1863873405_4b7d97795aA reminder from Fiona Loughran, the Southern Region Competitions Secretary, that the closing date approaches.

With thanks to all those who have already submitted their entries for this competition on Sunday 9 March a reminder that the closing date is fast approaching so please get your entries in by 10pm on Saturday 1 March.

Épée competitions will be held in the morning and sabre in the afternoon. It is possible for fencers to enter both, and the Master at Arms trophy will be awarded to those fencers performing best in these two competitions, along with the age group foil held in January.

Age groups are U18, U16, U14, U12 and U10. It is likely that the U10s will be combined with U12s.

Entries can be made through the Southern Region website.

The competition will be held on Sunday 9 March at Wellington College Health and Fitness Club, Dukes Ride, Crowthorne, RG45 7PT.

The entry fee is £13.50.

Closing date for entries = 10pm on Saturday 1 March.

To help us plan the competition effectively, a late fee of £27 will be charged for any entries received after that. No entries can be accepted on the day.

Age of fencers:

Years of birth for this season are:
U12 – Born 2002 or 2003
U14 – Born 2000 or 2001
U16 – Born 1998 or 1999
U18 – Born 1996 or 1997

British Fencing membership – Valid BF membership is required. Please ensure that you renew your membership if necessary before entering.

Southern Region – Fencers may only enter this regional event if they have specified Southern Region on their British Fencing Membership. Fencers may only fence in a qualifying event in one region in any season.

UK residents – As these are the qualifying events for the British Youth Championships (BYCs), fencers must be UK residents.

BYC qualification and entry fee – At least the top four fencers in each competition will qualify for the BYCs. More will qualify in any competitions with 17 or more fencers.

All qualifying fencers will be asked to pay the £21 BYC entry fee at the competition on 9 March.

Unfortunately, if qualifying fencers are unable to attend the BYCs for any reason, their place cannot be reallocated. So the £21 entry must be paid to the Region, as we have to pay this to British Fencing.

Look forward to seeing you at the competition.

Please contact Fiona Loughran, Southern Region Competitions Secretary, with any queries.
